Position Description

Christian Business Leaders Called into Marketplace Ministry

Considering his role, one of our C12 Area Chairs recently remarked:

“The decision to apply my God-given business experience to the role of C12 Chair has been a privilege and a blessing.  I’ve been stretched, humbled and thrilled to see the fruitfulness of C12’s materials and process as like-minded Christian business leaders are used by the Lord to sharpen, encourage and inspire each other as front-line participants in revealing and expanding the Kingdom through the marketplace.  I’ve seen the complacent awakened, the tired and fearful persevere and succeed beyond their wildest imagination, and those thriving economically come to grips with the Lord’s purpose and intended life balance for them.  Christ-centered relationships and Biblical principles, faithfully applied to real-world business opportunities, deliver in amazing ways which serve to transform us and those around us.”

Imagine a vocational role which the Lord has sovereignly prepared you to fulfill…one in which your growing maturity in Christ and application of Biblical wisdom is coupled with a solid business leadership background.  Further, imagine investing your life directly into dozens of Christian business leaders in your community, and indirectly into the many thousand of folks they routinely touch, for God’s purpose and glory!  Sound like a great way to make a living?  It is for many who have become C12 Area Chairs over the past several years.  The work of a C12 Area Chair involves:

  • Building a small business based on C12’s proven process and resources, often tapping your existing network of community business contacts and developing many other new relationships.

  • Developing deep Christ-centered relationships with several Christian Business Owners or CEOs, using your well-developed gifts and experience while reflecting a servant’s heart, and recognizing that this is your primary mission field.

  • Being comfortable in dealing with CEOs, based on your own solid professional and spiritual foundation, while having the humility and transparency to serve them.

  • Engaging as a peer group facilitator (not a teacher or preacher) who is intimate enough with each member and devoted enough to God’s ways to encourage members to hold each other to high standards and speak the truth in love.

  • Tailoring your approach with each member to provide what he/she really needs in terms of mentoring, discipling, coaching, consulting, and ministering without being unnecessarily doctrinaire or relying on only what you know.  This takes excellent listening skills, boldness and courage which relies on the disciplines of the faith, and a desire for continuous learning.

  • Steadfastness, based on a vision/commitment to transform your local marketplace, enhance the lives and businesses of your members, and faith in God’s ways.

In terms of daily activity, this translates into facilitating monthly peer group meetings (C12 Advisory Boards), meeting each member in monthly 60-90 minute One-on-One consultations, conducting on-going member/group development activities, and administering the growth and maintenance of a small, but highly rewarding business.

“No matter what your product is, you are ultimately in the education business. Your customers need to be constantly educated about the many advantages of doing business with you, trained to use your products more effectively, and taught how to make never-ending improvement in their lives.” - Robert G. Allen
