Memorial Poem offering Comfort to Newtown

Spouse of C12 staffer composed this poem to provide comfort and God's providential truth to Newtown in their time of suffering.

A battle lost, a war won
A chariot came to Newtown today
Clothed in Golden Dust from heaven
Angels accompanied on horseback;
with fire they came,
to claim what was theirs.
They came in the night, though the early sun warmed them.
Once exposed, their strength shown
and the earth trembled.
They were but a few in number, still they searched
One spoke "Here, here we are to pick up the young lions."
Another drew his sword, just in case a shadow should appear
Another dismounted, spreading his wings.
They were magnificent wings of soft feathers,
Yet their strength was undeniable
the winged one uttered "I will warm them on their journey."
With the sureness of truth they moved
Twenty-six in all.
Though they were warriors,
each one's heart could be seen through their armor,
hearts that radiated with loving-kindness, tenderness and mercies
Weapons unconventional for warfare.
All quickly recognized a child of thy servant
and with the speed of light wrapped themselves around each one
consumed by pure Grace each child was swept away to the chariot,
that awaited them
As the chariot door was closed, the winged angel spoke once more
Saying to them;
"Thou shalt endureth forever;
and thy remembrances for all generations."
Each young lion's face shone by what had been given to each of them
Each understood that, that which we do not
Though they once leaned on us
We now lean on them
For their Glory is strongest.
