Christ's Ambassadors In The Marketplace

In the Acts of the Apostles, Paul invited the Greeks to know the Lord Jesus Christ while speaking in the Areopagusthe Greek capital's "marketplace of ideas."

When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some of them sneered, but others said,

"We want to hear you again on this subject." At that, Paul left the Council.

Some of the people became followers of Paul and believed.  Acts 17:32-34 (NIV)

It was one of many places Paul conducted himself as "an ambassador for Christ."

We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God.  2 Corinthians 5:20 (NIV)

So for Christian business leaders, today's Areopagus is not much different from that of Paul's time. How do we spread the word of Christ to a modern world that communicates, relates, and lives differently from any other before it? How can we as Christian business leaders, be "ambassadors for Christ" like Paul, whose outward focus and fearless conviction brought Christ's truth and gospels to so many.

One of these "ambassadors" is Alan Barnhart. Alan is President & CEO of Barnhart Crane and Rigging Company.

As the keynote speaker at The 2013 Christian Leaders Conference hosted by The C12 Group, Alan will share his unique, God-honoring testimony and explain how his company delivers marketplace ministry.

Alan grew up in the steel erecting business his father founded in Memphis, TN in 1969. He and his brother Erik worked summers as ironworkers and crane operators, learning the business from the ground up during their high school and college years.

In 1986, they started Barnhart Crane & Rigging. Today, the company is said to be one of the best heavy lift and heavy transport companies in the world. The company has grown an average of 22% per year for the past 25 years.

In the interview below with LeTourneau University, he reveals how he uses his company's success to glorify God in the marketplace.

This year's leaders conference offers a wide variety of timely and relevant, high-impact business and ministry 'best practices' topics targeted for Christian CEOs and delivered by peer CEOs.
